عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) دِيكٌ أَبْيَضُ أَفْرَقُ يَحْرُسُ دُوَيْرَةَ أَهْلِهِ وَ سَبْعَ دُوَيْرَاتٍ حَوْلَهُ .

1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from Muhammad ibn Ali from abu Jamilah from Jabir who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘A white rooster which is called afraq (white) protects the house of its people and seven other houses around it.’” 

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ رُشَيْدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْهَاشِمِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَخْلَدٍ الْأَهْوَازِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ دِيكٌ أَبْيَضُ أَفْرَقُ يَحْرُسُ دُوَيْرَتَهُ وَ سَبْعَ دُوَيْرَاتٍ حَوْلَهُ وَ لَنَفْضَةٌ مِنْ حَمَامٍ مُنَمَّرَةٍ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ سَبْعِ دُيُوكٍ فُرْقٍ بِيضٍ .

2. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ali ibn Sulayman ibn Rushayd from al-Qasim ibn ‘ Abd al-Rahman al-Hashimiy from Muhammad ibn Mukhallad al-Ahwaziy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A white rooster which is called afraq protects its house and seven houses around it, however, a vibration from a spotted pigeon is better than seven white roosters.”’ 

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ جَدِّهِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْجَعْفَرِيِّ قَالَ ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) حُسْنُ الطَّاوُسِ فَقَالَ لَا يَزِيدُكَ عَلَى حُسْنِ الدِّيكِ الْأَبْيَضِ شَيْ‏ءٌقَالَ وَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ الدِّيكُ أَحْسَنُ صَوْتاً مِنَ الطَّاوُسِ وَ هُوَ أَعْظَمُ بَرَكَةً يُنَبِّهُكَ فِي مَوَاقِيتِ الصَّلَاةِ وَ إِنَّمَا يَدْعُو الطَّاوُسُ بِالْوَيْلِ لِخَطِيئَةِ الَّتِي ابْتُلِيَ بِهَا .

3. A number of our people have narrated from, Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid, from al-Qasim ibn Yahya from his grandfather al- Hassan ibn Rashid, from Ya’qub ibn Ja’far ibn Ibrahim al-Ja’fariy who has said the following: “Once, the beauty of peacock was mentioned before abu al-Hassan (a.s.), who said, ‘It cannot have any greater beauty over the white rooster.’ He (the narrator) has said, ‘I heard him (the Imam) saying, ‘The voice of rooster is better than the voice of peacock. It is of greater blessing because it wakes you up for the time of Salat (prayer). The peacock says, ‘Woe is me.’ It says so because of the mistake that it fell in.’” 

عَنْهُ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) الدِّيكُ الْأَبْيَضُ صَدِيقِي وَ صَدِيقُ كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ .

4. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from certain persons of his people in a marfu‘ manner who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The white rooster is my friend and the friend of every believing person.’” 

عَنْهُ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ أَبِي شُعَيْبٍ الْمَحَامِلِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ فِي الدِّيكِ خَمْسُ خِصَالٍ مِنْ خِصَالِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ السَّخَاءُ وَ الشَّجَاعَةُ وَ الْقَنَاعَةُ وَ الْمَعْرِفَةُ بِأَوْقَاتِ الصَّلَوَاتِ وَ كَثْرَةُ الطَّرُوقَةِ وَ الْغَيْرَةِ .

5. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from certain persons of his people from abu Shu’ayb al-Muhamiliy who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), has said, ‘In roosters there are five qualities of the qualities of the Prophets, like bravery, contentment, knowledge of the times of Salat (prayer), the great deal of ability of mating and courage (to protect the female).”’ 

عَنْهُ وَ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ جَمِيعاً عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( صلوات الله عليه ) صِيَاحُ الدِّيكِ صَلَاتُهُ وَ ضَرْبُهُ بِجَنَاحِهِ رُكُوعُهُ وَ سُجُودُهُ .

6. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad all from Ja’far ibn Muhammad al-Ash‘ariy from ibn al-Qaddah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘Crowing of the rooster is its Salat (prayer) and flipping of its wings is its Ruku’ (bowing down on one’s knees) and Sujud (prostrations).”’
