مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) مَا مِنْ لَبَنٍ يُرْضَعُ بِهِ الصَّبِيُّ أَعْظَمَ بَرَكَةً عَلَيْهِ مِنْ لَبَنِ أُمِّهِ .

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Yahya from Talhah ibn Zayd who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘No other milk has a greater blessing for the child as the milk of his mother does.”’ 

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ إِسْحَاقَ بِنْتِ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَتْ نَظَرَ إِلَيَّ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ أَنَا أُرْضِعُ أَحَدَ بَنِيَّ مُحَمَّداً أَوْ إِسْحَاقَ فَقَالَ يَا أُمَّ إِسْحَاقَ لَا تُرْضِعِيهِ مِنْ ثَدْيٍ وَاحِدٍ وَ أَرْضِعِيهِ مِنْ كِلَيْهِمَا يَكُونُ أَحَدُهُمَا طَعَاماً وَ الْآخَرُ شَرَاباً .

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Salmah ibn al-Khattab from Muhammad ibn Musa from Muhammad ibn al-‘ Abbas ibn al- Walid from his father from ‘Umm Ishaq daughter of Sulayman who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once looked to me when I was breastfeeding one of my sons, Muhammad or Ishaq and he (the Imam) said, ‘O ‘Umm Ishaq, do not breastfeed him from one breast only. Breastfeed him from both breasts; one is food and the other is the drink for him.’” 

مُحَمَّدٌ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ الرَّضَاعُ وَاحِدٌ وَ عِشْرُونَ شَهْراً فَمَا نَقَصَ فَهُوَ جَوْرٌ عَلَى الصَّبِيِّ .

3. Muhammad has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Muhammad ibn Sinan from ‘Ammar ibn Marwan from Sama‘ah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Breastfeeding is for twenty-one months. Breastfeeding for less than this is injustice to the child.’” 

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَاسَانِيِّ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيِّ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الْمِنْقَرِيِّ قَالَ سُئِلَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الرَّضَاعِ فَقَالَ لَا تُجْبَرُ الْحُرَّةُ عَلَى رَضَاعِ الْوَلَدِ وَ تُجْبَرُ أُمُّ الْوَلَدِ .

4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Ali Muhammad al-Qasaniy from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad al-Jawhariy from Sulayman ibn Dawud al-Minqariy who has said the following: “Once abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked about breastfeeding. He (the Imam) said, ‘A free woman cannot be forced to breastfeed; but the mother (who is a slave-girl) of child can be made to breastfeed.’” 

عَلِيٌّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَضَى أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) فِي رَجُلٍ تُوُفِّيَ وَ تَرَكَ صَبِيّاً فَاسْتُرْضِعَ لَهُ فَقَالَ أَجْرُ رَضَاعِ الصَّبِيِّ مِمَّا يَرِثُ مِنْ أَبِيهِ وَ أُمِّهِ .

5. Ali has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from certain persons of our people from ibn abu Ya‘fur who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin issued a judgment about the case of a man who had died, had left behind a child and they had found someone to breastfeed him. He (the Imam) said that the wages for breastfeeding must be paid from what the child has inherited from his father and mother.’” 

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ جَمِيعاً عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي الصَّبَّاحِ الْكِنَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لا تُضَارَّ والِدَةٌ بِوَلَدِها وَ لا مَوْلُودٌ لَهُ بِوَلَدِهِ فَقَالَ كَانَتِ الْمَرَاضِعُ مِمَّا يَدْفَعُ إِحْدَاهُنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا أَرَادَ الْجِمَاعَ تَقُولُ لَا أَدَعُكَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ أَحْبَلَ فَأَقْتُلَ وَلَدِي هَذَا الَّذِي أُرْضِعُهُ وَ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ تَدْعُوهُ الْمَرْأَةُ فَيَقُولُ أَخَافُ أَنْ أُجَامِعَكِ فَأَقْتُلَ وَلَدِي فَيَدَعُهَا وَ لَا يُجَامِعُهَا فَنَهَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَنْ ذَلِكَ أَنْ يُضَارَّ الرَّجُلُ الْمَرْأَةَ وَ الْمَرْأَةُ الرَّجُلَ .عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) نَحْوَهُ وَ زَادَ وَ أَمَّا قَوْلُهُ وَ عَلَى الْوارِثِ مِثْلُ ذلِكَ فَإِنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْ يُضَارَّ بِالصَّبِيِّ أَوْ يُضَارَّ أُمُّهُ فِي رَضَاعِهِ وَ لَيْسَ لَهَا أَنْ تَأْخُذَ فِي رَضَاعِهِ فَوْقَ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ فَإِنْ أَرَادَا فِصَالًا عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْهُمَا وَ تَشَاوُرٍ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ كَانَ حَسَناً وَ الْفِصَالُ هُوَ الْفِطَامُ .

6. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il and al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id all from Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl from abu al-Sabbah al-Kinaniy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘. . . a mother must not be harmed because of her child nor must a father be harmed because of his child.’ (2:232) He (the Imam) said, ‘This is a reference to the case of breastfeeding woman when man persued her for going to bed with her she refused saying, “I cannot allow you to go to bed with me because I may become pregnant and kill my child.’” It also refers to the case of the woman who asked a man for going to bed with her but he refused saying, “I am afraid that after going to bed with you then I will kill my child”; so he would not go to bed with her. Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, prohibited man’s harming the woman or woman’s harming the man.’” Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad from al-Halabiy who has narrated a similar Hadith with this addition: “About His words, . . an heir has similar responsibilities . . (2:232), he (the Imam) said, ‘An heir must not harm the child or his mother during breastfeeding and she also must not take more than two complete years for breastfeeding the child. If they decide to wean the child by mutual agreement and consent before two years it is fine and separation is weaning.’” 

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فِي رَجُلٍ مَاتَ وَ تَرَكَ امْرَأَةً وَ مَعَهَا مِنْهُ وَلَدٌ فَأَلْقَتْهُ عَلَى خَادِمٍ لَهَا فَأَرْضَعَتْهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ تَطْلُبُ رَضَاعَ الْغُلَامِ مِنَ الْوَصِيِّ فَقَالَ لَهَا أَجْرُ مِثْلِهَا وَ لَيْسَ لِلْوَصِيِّ أَنْ يُخْرِجَهُ مِنْ حَجْرِهَا حَتَّى يُدْرِكَ وَ يَدْفَعَ إِلَيْهِ مَالَهُ .

7. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Mahbub from ibn Sinan who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who dies and leaves behind a woman with a child from the deceased and she gives the child to her servant for breastfeeding. She then asks the executor of the will to pay for the breastfeeding wages. He (the Imam) said, ‘She deserves an equivalent wages and the executor of the will cannot take the child away from her until he grows up. He then delivers his assets to him. 

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الصَّبِيِّ هَلْ يُرْضَعُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَنَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ عَامَيْنِ قُلْتُ فَإِنْ زَادَ عَلَى سَنَتَيْنِ هَلْ عَلَى أَبَوَيْهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْ‏ءٌ قَالَ لَا .

8. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Khalid from Sa‘d ibn Sa‘d al-Ash‘ariy who has said the following: “I once asked al-Rida’ (a.s.), about the case of a child; if he can be breastfed for more than two years. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is two years.’ I then asked, ‘If the child is breastfed for more than two years do parents owe anything?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, they do not owe anything.
