When Perils were repelled or Requests quickly granted

1
allāhumma laka al-ḥamd ʿalā ḥusni qaḍāʾika
O God, to Thee belongs praise for Thy excellent accomplishment
2
wa bimā ṣarafta ʿannī min balāʾika
and for Thy trial which Thou hast turned away from me!
3
fala tajʿal ḥaẓẓī min raḥmatika mā ʿajjalta lī min ʿāfiyatika
But make not my share of Thy mercy the well-being which Thou hast quickly granted to me,
4
fa'akūna qad shaqītu bimā aḥbabtu wa sa'ida ghayrī bimā karīhtu
lest I become wretched through what I have loved and someone else gain felicity through what I have disliked!
5
wa-in yakun ma zalliltu feehi aw bittu feehi min hadhihil-'afiya
If this well-being in which I pass the day or night
6
bayna yaday balaa laa yanqatiʿu, wa wizr laa yartafiʾu
should precede a trial that does not cease and a burden that does not pass away,
7
faqqaddim li mā akhkhart wa akhkhir ʿannī mā qaddamta
then set before me what Thou hadst set behind and set behind me what Thou hadst set before!
8
faghayru kathir ma 'aqibatuhu al-fana'
For that which ends in annihilation is not great
9
wa ghayru qalil ma ʿaqibatuhul baqaʾu
and that which ends in subsistence is not little.
10
waṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālih
And bless Muhammad and his Household!
