The Supplication for Monday

1
bismi allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
In the Name of ALLAH, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate
2
Praise belongs to ALLAH,
3
lam yushhid ʾaḥadan ḥīna faṭara as-samāwāti wal-ʾarḍa
who allowed none to witness when He created the heavens and the earth,
4
wa lā ittakhadha muʿīnan hīna bara'a an-nasamāt
and who took no helper when He authored the spirits!
5
lam yushārik fil ilāhiyyah
He has no associate in Divinity
6
wa lam yuzāhir fil-waḥdaniyyah
and no support in Unity.
7
kallatil al-sunu ʿan ghayati sifatihi
Tongues fall silent before the limit of describing Him,
8
wa [anĥasarati-]l-ʿuqul ʿan kunhi maʿrifatihi
intellects fail before the core of knowing Him,
9
wa tawaḍaʿatil-jabābiratu lihaybatih
tyrants fall low in awe of Him,
10
wa-'anati al-wujuhu li-khashyatih
faces are humbled in fear of Him,
11
wa inqāda kullu ʿaẓīm li ʿaẓamatihi
and everything mighty yields to His mightiness!
12
falaka alhamdu mutawatirun muttasiquan wa mutawalliyan mustawsiqa
So to Thee belongs praise, again and again, well-measured, continually, methodically!
13
wa ṣalātu-hu ʿalā rasūli-hi abadan
and may His blessings be upon His Messenger endlessly,
14
wa salāmuhu dāʾiman sarmadān
and His salutation everlastingly, eternally!
15
allāhumma ijʿal
O ALLAH, make
16
'awwala yawmī hādhā ṣalāḥan
the beginning of this day of mine righteousness,
17
wa awsatahu falahan
its middle prosperity,
18
wa ākhirahu najāhan
and its end success!.
19
wa a'ūdhu bika min yawm
I seek refuge in Thee from a day
20
awwaluhu fazaʿu
whose beginning is fright,
21
waawsatuhu jazaʿun
whose middle is anxiety,
22
wa ākhiruhu wajaʿun
and whose end is pain!
23
allāhumma innī astaghfiruka
O ALLAH, I pray forgiveness from Thee for
24
li kulli nadhrin nadhartuhu
every vow I have vowed,
25
walikulli waʿdin waʿadtuhu
every promise I have promised,
26
wa li-kulli ʿahd ʿāhḍtuhu
and every pledge I have pledged
27
thumma lam afilaka bihi
and then failed to keep for Thee
28
wa as'aluka fi maẓalimi ʿibadika ʿindi
I ask Thee concerning the complaints of Thy servants against me:
29
faa'ayyuma 'abdin min 'abeedika, aw 'ammatin min ima'ik, kaanat lahoo qibalee madhlamah
If there is a servant from among Thy servants or a handmaid from among Thy handmaids, who has against me a complaint
30
ẓalamtuha iyyāhu fī nafsih, aw fī ʿirḍih, aw fī mālih, aw fī ahlih wa waladih
because I have wronged him in respect to himself, his reputation, his property, his wife or his child, or because
31
aw ghaybatun ightabtahu biha
evil words I have spoken about him in his absence,
32
ʾaw taḥāmulun ʿalayhi bimayl aw hawān, aw ʾanafah, aw ḥamiyyah, aw riyāʾ, aw
an imposition upon him through inclination, caprice, scorn, zeal, false show, bigotry,
33
ghā'iban kāna aw shāhidan
whether he be absent or present,
34
waḥayyan kāna aw mayyitan
alive or dead,
35
faqaṣurat yadī, waḍāqa wusʿī ʿan raddiha ilayhi, waltaḥallul minhu
such that my hand has fallen short and my capacity has been too narrow to make restitution to him or to annul my obligation to him,
36
fa as'aluka ya man yamliku al-hajat wa hiya mustajibatun bimashiyyatihi [limashiyyatihi kh], wa musri'atun ila iradatihi
I ask Thee, O He who owns all objects of need—which are granted by His will and hasten to His desire—that
37
an tuṣalliya ʿala muḥammad wa āli muḥammad
Thou blessest MUHAMMAD and the Household of MUHAMMAD,
38
wa'an turdiyahu anni bima shi'ta
makest [the one I have wronged] satisfied with me in the manner that Thou willest,
39
wa tahaba li min ʿindika raḥmatan
givest me mercy from Thee!
40
ʾinna-hu la tanquṣuka al-maghfirah
Forgiveness decreases Thee not
41
walā taḍurruka al-mawhibah
and giving injures Thee not,
42
yā ar-ḥama ar-rāḥimīn
O Most Merciful of the merciful!
43
allāhumma awlinī fī kulli yawmin ithnayni niʿmatayni minka thintayn
O ALLAH, give me on every Monday two favours from Thee:
44
saʿādatan fī awwalih biṭāʿatika
the felicity to obey Thee at its beginning
45
wa niʿmatan fī ākhirihi bimaghfiratika
and the favour of Thy forgiveness at its end!
46
yā man huwa al-ilāh
O He who is ALLAH
47
wa lā yaghfiru al-ḏẖunūba siwāhu
and none other than whom grants forgiveness for sins!
